Rates for music lessons

Every year or two, I call around and see what the local rate for music lessons is in San Diego. Currently, one hour, private, music lessons costs between $50 and $60. Some shop owners will say you only need a 30 or 45 minute lesson, but in my experience, that's not long enough. If you're 5 or 6 years old, that's perfect because your attention span isn't that long. If you're older than that, you will benefit much more from an hour long music lesson.

My rate for private music lessons is $45 an hour. Lessons are always well planned and packed full of exciting material. I'm happy to say my students have fun and learn fast, too! Helping each student discover and reach his or her music goals is my primary focus.

I recommend that all of my students have their own instrument. If you don't have one, I can suggest a local music store where you can purchase one at a discounted rate. If you need an instrument during your first lesson, you can use one of mine, but it will be wise to have your own at home, so you can practice.

San Diego Music Lessons

Each music student is encouraged to bring an empty folder for songs, licks sheets, handouts, etc. and an 8 1/2" x 11" notepad. I will write everything I teach in the notepad and you can refer to it to see what you (or your child) was taught.

My music students learn a lot in each lesson. You won't go away exasperated, but you will have plenty of material to work on. If you ever need extra work, I'm always happy to give it to you.
